Stain removal table: Stone Fibre

This stain removal table applies to Hammer Carpets' products made of STONE® yarns. If you cannot find the right answer here, please contact your dealer.


Type 1

Use 50/50 solution of household bleach and water.

Absorb as much of the spillage as possible using a clean, white cloth or plain white kitchen paper. Dab with the bleach solution until the stain no longer colours the cloth/kitchen paper. Finally dab with clean water and absorb with paper. Sprinkle potato starch over the damp patch and vacuum clean after 24 hours.

Type 2
Shoe polishOil (obvious stain)

Use petroleum or turpentine (N-heptane solvent)

Apply with a white cloth soaked in the solvent – the stain should be treated gently.

Type 3
Nail polish

Use acetone

Absorb as much of the solution as possible using a clean, white cloth or plain white kitchen paper. Dab/rub with a cloth moistened in acetone. Repeat the treatment until the stain no longer stains the cloth/kitchen paper. NB! Never pour acetone or other solvents directly onto the carpet. (Follow the manufacturer's instructions and, if you are in any doubt, contact your carpet dealer.)

Type 4
Rust

Use a specialist rust remover

Available from DIY stores. Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully.

Type 5
InkFelt pen

Use a specialist ink remover

Absorb as much of the spillage as possible using a clean, dry, white cloth or plain white kitchen paper. Use a specialist ink remover (available from DIY stores). Follow the instructions on the packaging carefully.

Type 6
Candle wax

Scrape off / apply acetone

Remove as much of the candle wax as possible by scraping with a knife. Then vacuum-clean thoroughly. Dab/rub with a cloth moistened in acetone. Repeat the treatment until the candle wax is removed. This takes time and requires patience, but it can be done.
